Although sometimes we wish we could go back and (text-colour:#E62C3F)[''stop''] ourselves from wearing that ridiculous outfit, we tend to hold onto certain items of clothing that hold sentimental value. I, for one, have realized by creating this project that I have a startling number of socks.
](align:"<=")+(box:"X=")[I dig through my wardrobe to find several T-shirts. Most of them are from tap dance festivals or workout gear, but there is one that stands out to me that I completely forgot about! Crammed in the middle of the T-shirt section is a teal Magic: The Gathering T-shirt.
Magic: The Gathering is a card collecting game. Around 10 years-old, I started joining my brother in Magic: The Gathering tournaments at our local comic book store, Nerdageddon. In between game sets, I would peruse the comic book section of the store from which my sister and I slowly amassed a My Little Pony comic book collection. Unfortunately, Nerdageddon moved its location in 2018 and we stopped going, but I still have a full chest of cards and comic books sitting in my room.
See my family and I have always been gamers. From card to video to board games, I can't remember going a day without playing some sort of game with my family members. I will play card games like Cribbage, Spite and Malice, and Hearts with my grandparents, board games like Settlers of Catan, Small World, and Lords of Waterdeep with my parents, and online video games like League of Legends, Overwatch, and Risk of Rain 2 with my siblings, cousins, and friends. While currently I do not play Magic: The Gathering, the T-shirt brings up fond childhood memories.

The T-shirt itself is teal and it has the designs of the card game's different manas in a circular pattern. Pared with jeans and a warm hoodie, this would be perfect for going to the movies.

](align:"<==")+(box:"X=")[Sifting through my closet, I find my Detroit Tap Repertory jersey.
I have been performing on stage with dance since I was 3 years old and tap dance was always my favorite style. Around 11 years old, I decided to audition for the Detroit Tap Repertory, a pre-professional tap dance company. I choreographed my own solo and told no one at my old dance studio about the audition, because I was not sure if I was going to make it.
At the audition, I was dressed in a skeleton tank top with skeleton socks to match my dance’s music, Skeleton Song. After I finished my interview, the panel had me perform my piece. In the room they told me that it was the best audition they ever had, but I was still nervous and was not sure if I had made it. Of course, I did make it and to this day, the members still talk about my audition as the best they have ever seen.
Further down the road, my company performed at two Detroit Pistons halftime shows wearing the Detroit Tap Repertory jersey. I also performed at a Detroit Piston’s halftime show with a different tap company in which I got to perform with the Piston’s drumline team. Seeing that jersey reminds me of all the amazing performances I got to do wearing it, not to mention it is also pretty comfortable.

The jersey is black with white stripes. It is pretty loose fitting and has the Detroit Tap Repertory’s logo on the front with my last name and the number 23 on the back. Usually I would wear it unbuttoned with a white tank underneath and black leggings, but it is pretty versatile and can be styled multiple ways.

](align:"<==")+(box:"X=")[Digging through my hoodies and sweatshirts, I realize that all of them have sentimental value, including the hand-me-down Mackinac Island sweatshirt from my brother.
The first time I visited Mackinac, I was so little, the only memories I have are of trying fudge for the first time and playing in an indoor waterpark. However, in the summer of 2017, which would later become known in my family as the summer of shipwreck museums, my family and I returned to the island and this time, I remember the trip well.
We arrived on the island on the 2nd of July. We stayed in the Chippewa hotel right on the waterfront. Our rooms had balconies and my Gammy (grandma) and Othy (grandpa) would spend most of the day sitting on those balconies, watching the boats dock and listening to the live music emanating from the outside patio cafe below.
While Gammy and Othy stayed at the hotel, the rest of the family explored the island. We rented bikes, went swimming, walked through the Haunted Wax museum, and of course, ate lots and lots of fudge.
During the night of July 3rd, a huge cruise ship docked on the island for the 4th of July celebrations. That day was chaotic. The streets were filled to the brim with tourists and all the bikes were rented out. Although that day was crazy, we spent the night watching fireworks over the lake and thankfully, the cruise ship left that night. We left the island July 6th to go to the Upper Peninsula and that vacation remains one of my favorites.

The Mackinac sweatshirt is faded blue blue with a white design of Fort Mackinac on it. I think my boot-cut jeans would look pretty good with it.

](align:"<==")+(box:"X=")[Looking through my clothes, I find my old baby blue Interlochen polo.
I have not been acting for as long as I have been dancing, but I remember filming my first monologue ever in the basement of my house. I performed a monologue as Ophelia from Shakespear’s play, Hamlet. Cliche? Maybe. But I submitted the video as my audition to attend the Interlochen Arts Camp and amazingly, I got in!
I can remember my excitement as the summer of 2020 was getting closer. I could not wait to go! Unfortunately, I was not able to attend that summer in person due to the Covid-19 global pandemic which made me heartbroken. However, thanks to modern technology, mostly Zoom, I attended an online-version of the summer camp. Even though we were not in-person, the camp program sent everyone a box of camp activites to do. It was impressive how, even through an online space, I was still able to connect with other campers through Zoom meetings.
Although I was not able to go to the campus that summer, I was determined to go and attended Interlochen Arts Camp in-person the following summer where I was able to meet a few of my online camp friends. Sandwiched between two beautiful lakes in Northern Michigan, I attended acting classes during the day and participated in fun activities during the evening. Looking at the polo reminds me of all the camp activities I did.

The polo is a box cut, baby blue, collared, short sleeved shirt. It has the Interlochen logo embroidered on the front of it. Although I do not think it is the perfect shirt for going out, it would be fun to wear it again. Perhaps with khakis and one of my Interlochen hoodies over top of it.

It is a bit chilly outside so I started digging through my scarves and happened to stumble upon an old knitting project of mine!
I have a bit of a different childhood than most. I was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school and have been knitting, sewing, weaving, and crafting since as long as I can remember. My early education had an emphasis on nature and crafts and my mom and Gammy (grandma) had a popular crafting blog when I was growing up called WeeFolkArt. I remember that Gammy had an entire room in her basement dedicated to just crafts. There was an entire wall of colorful yarn that my siblings and I were allowed to take from for our own projects, which is where I got the yarn for this knitted scarf.

The old knitted scarf is very colorful, but has some holes and mistakes from me dropping stitches. It is a little short for me now, but I could tie it together to make a headband.
As I was looking through my jewelry, I found my old autumn leaf necklace, which reminds me of a particular fall memory.
A common fall-time activity for my family is going to the Renaissance Festival and because of my mom’s and Gammy’s crafting blog, we would get recognized. I remember when I was around 10 years old, I decided to reuse an old dance costume to dress up as an autumn fairy. While I was there, someone who I did not recognize said hello to me. They asked for a picture and, as an out-going confident kid, I obliged. It wasn’t until later that I realized that they recognized me from WeeFolkArt. Yeah. Little me did not get the concept of "stranger danger" which caused my parents a bit of stress.
